The 2012 Internet Trends Updated Report by Mary Meeker of KPCB
(Kleiner Perkins Caufield Byers) came out a few days ago with some pretty interesting data. Check out the report and have a glance. Some key points I thought were very intriguing:

  • Android adoption is 6 times that of the iPhone (ref. p. 10)
  • 29% of US adults own tablet / eReader (ref. p. 12)
  • 48% of US kids ages 6-12 want an iPad in next 6 mos (ref. p.13)
  • 36% of US kids ages 6-12 want an iPad Mini in next 6 mos. (ref. p. 13)
  • Global Mobile Traffic growth on Internet from 2010-2012 increased by 325% (13% of Internet traffic) (ref. p. 15)

There is no question that the rise of mobile, growth of apps, speed of innovation & disruption, and re-imagination of all things is amazing and often overwhelming. As a small business, you need to be able to capitalize on some of these trends. Two key trends that I feel are the most obvious are:

  • Growth of Mobile and smart phone usage
  • Use of tablets and eReaders

You must read this report, it’s a real eye opener. I will be doing a future post on how you can use these two trends in your marketing. To read more, please see below.
